Many of his paintings, illustrations, advertisements, postcards, and designs are sought after worldwide. Mucha was a commercial success early in his art career. Of note, he tried to elevate his works with Le Pater - paintings and recollection on the various lines within the Our Father prayer, an illustrated book with a limited print run. Mucha spent many years working on what he considered his life's fine art masterpiece, The Slav Epic (Slovanská epopej) a series of twenty huge paintings depicting the history of the Czech and the Slavic people.
